Just 2 hours and 15 minutes by a comfortable bus from Netanya’s central station – and I’m already walking through the narrow streets of ancient Jerusalem. If you prefer driving, it takes only 1 hour and 20 minutes by car to reach the capital, especially on Friday mornings when the roads are still quiet.
Arriving in Jerusalem after noon on Friday, you can feel the city slowly changing. The narrow lanes of the Old City begin to empty, the market stalls close one by one, and local residents hurry home to prepare for Shabbat. The air becomes still, filled with a calm that feels both spiritual and timeless.
As you stroll through the stone-paved alleys and under ancient arches, you can sense the deep peace that descends over the city. By 2:00 PM, Jerusalem seems to fall into a gentle slumber — a perfect moment for those who love quiet exploration and wish to experience the city without crowds.
In these hours before Shabbat, Jerusalem reveals a softer side — reflective, sacred, and profoundly beautiful.I’ve tried to capture this atmosphere in my photographs: the golden light on the stones, the silence of empty streets, and the sense of peace that settles over the heart of the Holy City.
