The Jordan River

The Jordan River

The Jordan River is one of the most famous and scenic rivers in Israel, attracting visitors with its natural beauty and deep historical significance.
It is especially popular in spring and autumn, when the weather in the Jordan Valley becomes pleasantly warm and ideal for outdoor recreation.

The Jordan Valley has a hotter and drier climate than most other regions of Israel. In summer, temperatures can rise quite high, so the most comfortable time to visit is from March to May or September to November. During these months, the mild warmth and calm atmosphere make the riverbanks perfect for relaxation and exploration.

On weekends, especially during Shabbat, families from nearby towns come here for picnics, enjoying the peaceful landscapes and fresh air. The Jordan River is also popular for kayaking, canoeing, and swimming, offering an active and refreshing way to experience the region’s nature.

The river is rich in fish, attracting anglers and nature enthusiasts alike. Whether you seek quiet rest, family leisure, or outdoor adventure, the Jordan River offers a perfect combination of tranquility and discovery.

The cleanest and most picturesque stretches of the Jordan River are found near the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret). This area is rich in water and surrounded by lush greenery, making it one of Israel’s favorite destinations for outdoor activities and family recreation. Several popular spots are located here:
