If you are planning a trip in Israel with a rental car, there are a few important things you should know about gas stations:
-
Shabbat Closures: Most gas stations are closed during Shabbat, which starts on Friday afternoon (around 3–4 PM) and ends on Saturday evening. Make sure to fill up your tank in advance.
-
Self-Service: The majority of gas stations are self-service, and the payment machines usually operate only in Hebrew, which can be challenging for tourists.
-
Car Washes: Not all stations have car wash facilities — they are relatively rare.
-
Facilities: Almost every gas station provides clean restrooms and drinking water fountains, which are free to use.
-
Major Chains: The two largest gas station chains in Israel are Yellow (operated by Paz) and Delek Alon (דוד אלון).
Travel tip: If you are not comfortable with the Hebrew-only self-service machines, look for a station with an attendant(sometimes available at larger stations, especially in city centers).

Bus travel options from Netanya

From Netanya, it is very convenient to travel across Israel by bus. Just 850 meters from the beach, along Herzl Street, you will find the city’s closed, air-conditioned central bus station, from which you can easily and affordably reach many major cities and tourist destinations.
All intercity buses are modern and equipped with:
-
Comfortable padded seats
-
Reading lights
-
USB charging ports
-
Stop request buttons
-
Air conditioning
They also have luggage compartments for storing suitcases, strollers, bicycles, and scooters.
Boarding and Payment
-
Boarding: Passengers enter only through the front door; the exit is in the center of the bus.
-
Payment: Fares are paid with a rechargeable magnetic card (Rav-Kav), which can be loaded with money in advance at the bus station. The card is scanned by the driver at boarding.
-
Navigation: Announcements and signage inside the buses are only in Hebrew, so it’s recommended to prepare your route ahead of time.
Taking the bus from Netanya is an affordable and comfortable way to explore Israel, whether you are heading to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, or Eilat.
