The Soreq Stalactite Cave, also known as Avshalom Cave (named after the surrounding park), is one of the most impressive stalactite caves in the world. Covering an area of 4,800 square meters, it is famous for its incredible variety of stalactites and stalagmites — many of which have been given names, such as Romeo and Juliet.

The cave’s vastness amazes every visitor. Its ceilings are filled with bizarre formations that have been growing for hundreds of thousands of years. Even today, droplets continue to drip along the stalactites, keeping the cave floor constantly damp, with a small stream flowing out of the cave.

Here, you can admire the stalactites and stalagmites up close — almost close enough to touch their surfaces with your fingers.

The cave is always humid, but in the summer it is a few degrees cooler than the surrounding rare Mediterranean forest, while in winter it provides shelter from rain and wind, with temperatures slightly higher than outside.

The site is safe: walking paths are equipped with handrails, and lamps light the stairs.

Before entering, visitors are shown a documentary film about the cave’s discovery, which adds to the experience.

At the entrance and exit, there is a souvenir shop where you can also buy ice cream or bottled water.

I saw many delighted children exploring the cave with fascination and then running around the park’s mountain trails. I also noticed elderly women filming the cave to share with their families. Everyone was interested, and everyone was impressed!
